The 2022 Christmas Gift Guide guides are looking a little different this year. Gone are our lengthy intros and posed imagery. Feedback is that readers want candid snaps of what they get from the retailer – what is in boxes and pots! The packinging and how it comes in the post. This year budgets are tighter, so we have focused on products that are under £100 and those that tick the ‘treat’ and ‘practical use’ boxes. Buy one or two gifts she will love rather than a bundle of gimmicky ones that will live in the back of a cupboard. Radical suggestion? Ask what people need or would like. Also we went with His/Her guides this year because they are the most widely searched but please interchange the guides for all genders ?

Launched in 2009 Evolve Beauty products are handmade in small batches in Hertfordshire, England in a studio with 100% wind power and low-energy lighting. Their products are vegan, cruelty-free and eco-friendly. The Evolve Organic Beauty Nightly Renew Facial Cream is available HERE and comes in a stylish 60ml brown glass jar and recycled card box. Designed to detoxify the skin whilst smoothing fine lines and wrinkles it contains natural ingredients such as Peony Extract and Bio Retinol from the plant Bidens Pilosa. Full ingredients are clearly listed on the site. Massage in small circles on freshly cleansed skin as part of your evening beauty routine. The cream is thick but rubs into the skin immediately with no residue. The site has a useful skin quiz and free skincare consultations. I included a moisturiser as it is a widely used product and I find even if I miss the morning routine, putting on a nice thick nightly cream to sleep in does the world of good, especially in drier colder weather.
Fragrance: (my most asked question about beauty and skincare items -what do they smell like?!) This has a light natural lavender scent.

Peugeot is one of the most iconic French brands with a strong tradition of exceptional quality and innovation. No, I am not including this brand for their cars…but for their ingeniously made kitchenware. With a brand ethos to manufacture products that enhance taste, it is no wonder that the products are loved and used by top chefs including Raymond Blanc and Rick Stein. As they produced their first coffee mill back in 1840 and are well known for their excellence in engineering, I wanted to feature Peugeot’s innovative Paris Press (available HERE) as the ideal gift for a coffee lover. The Paris Press combines a coffee mill with a cafetiere. Yes, you heard correctly. No more need for a noisy electric grinder, then spilling half the ground beans as you try to pour them into a cafetiere, this 2-in-1 product saves space and offers a new means of preparing and savouring freshly-ground coffee. At 15 cm it is perfectly sized to grind and brew 500ml of coffee and sit happily on your kitchen shelf. What struck me with this product is how well made and robust it is, the Paris Press mill with its unique grinding mechanism is placed directly onto the cafetiere. The grinding mechanism comes with a lifetime guarantee and adjusts automatically. Add 4 good scoops (a handy spoon comes with the mill) then with just a few turns of the handle, your coffee beans are freshly ground and transferred directly into the cafetiere. You can adjust the grind. It is a smooth process. Remove the mill, pour in the hot water, put on the cafetiere top and leave it to brew for 5 minutes then plunge. I love the modern aesthetic, chrome, black and glass (nice and thick) with a logoed plunger. It is a really high-quality item and a special gift.

Admittedly I do get lost in what I should be taking at my age and helpfully the website has sections for suggesting supplements for your ‘need’. My hair has been suffering since Norah was born so we are featuring best-selling Biotin Brilliance that retails for £30 or £24 with a subscription. The pack includes 30 tablets suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Enesco sells a whole host of licensed home and giftware, which are perfect for Christmas. They have had added some beautiful new brands and products to their stock lists. Exclusively designed by Michelle Allen for Enesco, The Owl and Owlet Reusable Water Bottle is made of high-quality, double-walled stainless steel. There are many sustainable bottle choices out there, but I have not seen one with such a unique and artistic design. It is eye-catching. The bottles are BPA-free and have a special spill-proof vacuum seal keeping liquids hot or cold for at least 12 hours and up to 24 hours. A great feature is they store 500ml which is enough for a drink to last but also that the bottle is not too cumbersome and fits in a handbag easily.
The Eau Holy Night candle with Fresh Pine Needles in the wax is the perfect festive candle. This gorgeous Christmas scent of cinnamon, bitter oranges and fresh cedar is just delicious and not too overpowering. Now you may think that is not a very glamorous gift, but again, think practical. Made By Coopers is a modern apothecary crafting natural and organic products for your skin and soul. They believe in creating natural, clean products. The Made by Coopers Organic coffee, sugar and Dead Sea salt scrub is available HERE. Yes, you can smell the coffee and kind of want to eat it! Vegan and cruelty-free, the scrub comes in a large 250G glass jar. You only need a small amount so this will last and last. What I like is that the scrub does not melt away in contact with water, you get good abrasion from the coffee without it being rough. The peppermint leaves your skin pleasantly tingly and soft. It is a product that gives an energising feel, just make sure you rinse out the bath after! I chose it because I love exfoliants but so many are made with plastic microbeads that are terrible for the planet, so it is great to find a product that does the job just as well, made with natural ingredients.

Asmodee is the leading distributor of tabletop games and accessories in the UK. Board games are great all-rounder gifts, for those of any age. Christmas is a time when families get together so why not gift a game, or better yet gift a game and secretly plan a games night? Player wise Dixit requires 3-6 people, and I chose it because it is an easy-to-learn party game. The French made game also is colourful, beautifully illustrated and has won a well-deserved Spiel des Jahres. In very simplified breakdown, the aim of the game is to score points by describing the image cards in your hand, which other players have to guess. There are expansion packs to buy to increase the games longevity which I like. Take a peek at photos of the game in play online, you will see why we recommended the game for its visuals! Fragrance: Amazing, each bottle has a recognisable and powerful scent without being overwhelming. My favourite is the florals of Scots Pine. What I like is that they don’t smell synthetic and have a range of fragrance notes for different tastes, i.e., Fireside has spiced notes and Whiskey and Water Amber…and Whisky!
