The perfect dress? Check. Order of service sorted? Check. Pointless-yet-must-have wedding favours? Check.
After months of meetings, tastings and fittings the big day has almost arrived. As every bride knows, preparation is key. There are SO many things to remember, lists upon lists, some things are bound to be forgotten in the confetti filled frenzy.
Get the bridal Bloom and Glow.
Everyone wants glowing skin for the walk down the aisle, but how do you achieve this?
If you really want to get your skin in top form, it’s recommended that you start a smart skincare routine about a year in advance. Use a mild face wash, a gentle toner and add a lightweight oil-free moisturizer. Buy a good microdermabrasion exfoliator and invest in monthly facials.
A recipe for great skin.
The award-winning Bloom and Glow was created by MasterChef Finalist Angela Langford who lovingly creates organic, vegan, cruelty free, mood-boosting skincare products. This is an affordable, natural range which harnesses the finest ingredients from nature to feed your skin – with no chemical additives. The package arrived beautifully wrapped which includes a recipe card with the delivery so that whilst the Bloom & Glow was helping my skin on the outside, I can nourish it from the inside too.
My complexion is temperamental, combination skin that is currently very dehydrated and puffy from the extreme lack of sleep that partners a new-born baby!
Voted by Good Housekeeping as #1 in their Nourishing Face Oil a bottle with a dropper-pipette contains a beautiful, vibrant orange coloured oil that has a light silky feel. The scent has a lightly citrusy element. You simply massage two drops into your skin each evening before bed and then you can add a drop of oil to your daily moisturiser. A quick and easy addition to the daily routine. It soaked in leaving no residue and my skin did not feel greasy.
Become a convert.
I have used the product for five days and my skin no longer feels so sensitive and inflamed. Fresh. A little bit of love in a bottle the oil combined by a 5-minute facial massage fights fluid retention leaving my face plumper, softer and more radiant. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes as it can irritate them. It is made from some of my favourite ingredients, Vitamin E, Evening Primrose, Omega 3 and a new superhero Sea Buckthorn. The website is fantastic, your skin details are kept on account, there is a list of ingredients available and you receive free samples in each order helping you explore the range further.
With a price tag of £20.50 you may consider it a little on the pricey side but as I usually purchase premium options from Clinique or No7 and although it retails in a 15ml bottle you only need a small amount. A little goes a long way!
Don’t forget the Groom!
There is so much focus on the bride getting ready sometimes I think the groom gets a mite neglected. They get just as anxious in the 10 minutes it takes them to get prepared (compared to the brides 4 hours of hair and make up hell!) I love the idea of sending a little gift the morning of the wedding.
Remember when you were kids and would make mixed tapes for who you are dating? Pick a retro gift with one of these fab USB tapes where you can write your own title, messages and playlist with the modern addition that you can store up to 900 minutes of music. Add the perfect compilation of songs that remind you of memories together.
Also, why not sneak in a couple of groomsmen gifts? A quality gin can be enjoyed all year round, the Sibling Distillery Four Seasons Gin Gift Set from Prezzybox contains four 5CL bottles; warming Cranberry and Clementine; fragrant Lemon and Rosemary; sweet Strawberry and Black Pepper, and Apple, Blackberry and Cardamom. Just enough for a little tipple!
Take a bath.
Planning a wedding is a stressful process. On the run up to, and the night before the wedding light a couple of candles and have a relaxing bath. I am a fan of lotions and potions and if you are too why not add a little magic to your bath with Olverum Bath Oil, Winner of Tatler Beauty Awards 2018. Arriving beautifully boxed, with a simple design and classic glass bottle this would be the perfect gift. The 125ml bottle retails at £32.00 and will be enough for around 25 baths you only need half a capful don’t be tempted to use more you don’t need to, its pure bliss.
Pour, soak, RELAX.
Perfect for helping to relax the frazzled bride and help them get a good night’s sleep the highly concentrated, therapeutic bath oil contains essential oils, carefully blended to work synergistically. Each aromatic plant was carefully selected due to its own individual therapeutic quality. The blissful vapours took over the bathroom in the steam and it smelled like a spa. The Geranium which I could identify was really refreshing and it left me feeling truly pampered, with beautifully soft skin.
The perfect, timeless luxury product, when it comes to bath time Olverum becomes your new best friend.
Buy the perfect ‘going away’ outfit.
With couples often staying the night at venues and delaying honeymoons for days, weeks or even months there is no longer a big wedding exit for the big and groom. The tradition of ‘going away’ has waned and with it the need for the bride to change into travelling clothes. Once upon a time, this outfit, usually a suit, made up part of the bridal trousseau.
Throughout history, young single women prepared for their change in marital status by accumulating a series of outfits for the wedding, honeymoon and early days of married life. Nowadays, women have a wardrobe of clothes and given the cost of the wedding dress want to stay in it as long as possible!
What about the day after?
Most brides stay overnight at the venue and the next day I have seen so many bridal parties in pyjamas and comfortable lounge pants. Why not make that ‘special outfit’ feel last a bit longer and have a ‘day after the wedding’ outfit rather than a going away outfit?
If you wanted to carry on the white theme my favourite pick would be this midi, light summer dress from ELVI. Producing premium fashion inspired by the latest catwalk trends, size does not dictate their designs as they offer outfits in an 8-28 for #Everybody. The size is pretty much bang on which is great as some retailers prodducts sell on the small side. The main feature I fell in love with is the beautiful low v back and front, simple but feminine, with scalloped style edging. The skirt is layered which creates a boho element so the dress does not feel too formal.
Did you forget anything on your wedding day, or is there anything you wish you had done?
