5 Quick and Easy Ways to Take Care of Your Skin

by Author: Jade Lloyd

With so much information on skincare these days, trying to figure out what you should and shouldn’t be doing to take care of your skin can be daunting. Going onto skincare brand websites can also be overwhelming; with so many products to choose from, which are right for you?

This becomes an even greater issue for those that have busy schedules that prevent them from spending more than a few minutes in the morning and evening to follow a skincare routine. The great news is that you actually need to do very little to get glowy, healthy skin. Here are five steps you can take to look after your skin without dedicating too much time.

1) Double cleanse.

While many know that using a daily cleanser is Skincare 101, only a few practice the double cleanse. If you wear makeup, double cleansing is a non-negotiable. It is virtually impossible to remove all the impurities from your pores with a single face wash.

To double cleanse, start by applying a cleansing balm or oil to your face to remove your makeup. These products are gentle on the skin and avoid stripping them of moisture. Once you’ve rinsed the balm off, go in with your regular, foaming cleanser to remove the rest of the grime.

2) Moisturize.

After you’ve cleansed your face, you need to go in with a moisturizer. The type of moisturizer you choose will depend on many things, including:

  • Your skin type
  • Your climate
  • AM or PM application

Although there are many skin treatments you can apply in addition to a cleanser and moisturizer, if you have limited time, these are the only two steps you truly need. For those who have no time for deep cleansing the face, using products that have a moisturizing effect will be a great idea. Both organic and chemical products have items that not only cleanse the skin but also moisturize it and keep a healthy skin microbiome. Try to use the most relevant product for your skin type. For instance, for those who have sensitive skin using chemical products wouldn’t be a reliable option as it needs a proper approach. However, this skin can be treated with natural products such as soaps, and lotions. Natural goat milk soap can be a good addition to the skincare routine as it not only deep cleanses the skin pores but also gently moisturize it without causing any rashes.

3) Apply sunscreen daily.

Your foundation has SPF in it, so you’re covered, right? What many people don’t realize is that, to get enough sun protection, you’d have to apply more foundation than can even absorb into your skin.

Whether or not you wear makeup, you must apply sunscreen before heading out the door. Without sunscreen, all the hard work you put in cleansing and moisturizing will be counteracted by harsh UV rays. Sunlight can damage your skin by impacting the moisture barrier of your skin, cause pigmentation, and increase aging.

4) You are what you eat.

While this old adage is contested in many ways, it rings true for the health of your skin. No matter how many serums or masks you apply to your skin, it won’t be glowy unless you make sure you’re eating and drinking the right things.

For healthy skin, eat foods that are high in healthy fats, such as nuts, avocados, and healthy oils. It’s also essential that you drink enough water, or you’ll struggle with dry skin. High-fat foods and water also keep your hair healthy

5) Visit a dermatologist.

If you’ve followed the above steps and are experiencing problems with your skin, it may be time to visit a dermatologist. Dermatologists can help with medical conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne, and they can explain how to get rid of rosacea. Tackling these issues on your own can make the issue even worse.
