The Jamberry Nail Experiment. Stripey Fingers Ahoy. Review & Tutorial.

This post is not about Jam, or berries…or any pudding at all for that matter…

I would love to have good looking nails all the time, but I don’t, once in a blue moon I will paint my digits but one game of hot wheels later they are chipped. I have had Shellac at the salon before which I love whilst it’s on as my nails seem superman style indestructible…but each time after it is removed they do get really brittle and I vow never to do it again.

The same as when I eat a whole Toblerone.

The lovely Ceri is an independent Jamberry consultant and sent me some fantastic nail wraps, thin vinyl sheets that are pressure and heat activated to adhere to your nail for a long lasting and beautiful look.

They are non-toxic and require ZERO dry time…perfect for mum’s who need their hands 24/7.

There are over 300+ amazing styles…for a mani and pedi sheet the price for the style I chose is £15.00 which is much cheaper than having it done at the salon and I don’t have to leave home!

They also do Junior Jamberry sheets so you could have a lovely mother and daughter evening…or on if any one else’s boys like to wear nail varnish like mine…a mother and son evening…

I got a bottle of wine ready just in case this was going to be tricky. I didn’t drink it…then.

The wraps came with easy to follow instructions.

Ceri suggested washing my hands in washing up liquid to remove excess oil…so I did the dishes beforehand.

‘Clean your nails with rubbing alcohol’ *I looked dubiously at my other half’s bourbon* Luckily Ceri had provided me with a very useful alcohol wipes. I then buffed the top of the nail to remove the shine and prepare the nail bed for optimal result. It advised that you then push back cuticle but that makes me feel sick…so I ignored that step….shh.

I did not take pictures during the application process as that would have resulted in fire or flood.

The wraps come in a sheet which you cut in half…simple so far…My nails, like my bum and feet tend to fall in-between sizes.

I would recommend using smaller wraps rather than larger.

They might not look 100% natural, but they will properly adhere to your nails and won’t get caught on your skin or clothing.

Directions tell you that when you peel off the nail design from the sheet, you have to warm it for 10 to 15 seconds.

I grabbed my trusty hairdryer and used my cuticle remover stick to gently apply the shield to the nail (or you could grab a tweezers). The first time I did not engage my brain and just held the strip in front of the dryer which flew off and stuck to the carpet, so don’t be a dope like me, put a finger behind the nail sheet and don’t put the dryer onto tornado speed. If you get your ‘Jamberry on’ regularly they sell a mini heater which makes application a lot faster.

When it’s pliable you press the wrap onto the nail, I put it bottom first with the aid of the cuticle stick and gently smoothed upwards to the top (don’t forget your glasses).

Then, you can cut the excess nail shield off at the tip of your nail and file it down. You bring the hair dryer back into the process, apply more heat and pressure to the nail, I did it twice for each. Voila, no need for a top coat.

I did all of my hand nails in one episode of Paw patrol.

I love the durability, the range of designs. I don’t think it looks like nail varnish but that is not a bad thing! They’re said to last for up to two weeks.

They are about to undergo the working mummy test, day two and they are holding up like champs, even when my son decided he would try peel one off…

When you remove them Ceri advises using coconut oil. She heats it up and after you break the seal around your whole wrap using an orange stick / cuticle pusher you soak them in the hot oil (don’t burn yourself!)

If you fancy some of these snazzy nails then you can check out Ceri’s Facebook page…she is happy to send out samples!!

I love that you started with a bottle of wine and still did them within an episode of paw patrol. I often have considered jamberry but I’m still clinging to my Salon Gels.

Haha I would give them a try my nails were still in fab condition when they came off, they don’t last as long as salon nails but I think are perfect for things like weddings!x
